Regulatory Permitting

Sapphos Environmental, Inc. has frequently assisted clients in processing and submitting a variety of regulatory permits:

  • Nationwide and individual permits pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, administered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACOE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) [The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), and several state agencies play important advisory roles]
  • Streambed Alteration Agreements pursuant to Section 1600 of the State Fish and Game Code, administered by the California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG)
  • Water quality certifications pursuant to Section 401 of the Clean Water Act, administered by the Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB)
  • Permits for incidental take of a state-listed endangered species pursuant to Section 2081 of the State Fish and Game Code, administered by CDFG
  • Section 7 consultations for incidental take of a federally listed endangered species pursuant to the federal Endangered Species Act, administered by USFWS (Section 7 consultations are only required for federally funded projects)
  • Section 10 (a) permits for incidental take of a federally listed endangered species pursuant to the federal Endangered Species Act, administered by USFWS [Section 10 (a) permits are prepared for projects that are not receiving federal funding]
