Sapphos Environmental, Inc. works with the client to identify applicable, relevant, and appropriate federal, state, and local statutes, ordinances, or policies regarding hazards and hazardous materials. These issues must be considered during the decision-making process for projects that have the potential to interact with existing hazards that may create hazards or that may require the use of hazardous materials, or that may generate hazardous materials or hazardous substances or wastes.

The firm’s experience working on high-profile projects involving multiple federal, state, and local entities has fostered the development of excellent working relationships with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; California Department of Transportation (Caltrans); California Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC); California Air Resources Board (CARB); Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB); South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD); County of Los Angeles; Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD); City of Los Angeles; and City of Long Beach.

Phase I and Phase ll Environmental Site Assessments
Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) involve assessing and identifying recognized environmental conditions for industrial, commercial, and redeveloped (brownfield) properties ranging from small lots to parcels comprising several thousand acres. All work is in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, in accordance with the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standard E1527-05.

Regulatory Compliance Services Sapphos Environmental, Inc. assists clients to develop strategies for responding to and complying with regulatory agency directives, including critical issues such as Notification of Potentially Responsible Parties, Remedial Investigation / Feasibility Studies (RI/FS), and Clean-up and Abatement Orders. Asbestos and Lead Surveys
Asbestos and lead surveys include the identification, treatment, or abatement of asbestos-containing materials or lead for governmental agencies, municipalities, and nonprofit organizations.

Brownfields Policy Development and Grant Application Preparation
Brownfields policy development involves the creation of workable policy at the local and state level to facilitate the redevelopment of brownfields, promote in-fill development and the revitalization of sites and adjacent communities, and conserve open space.

Grant application preparation also evaluates the eligibility of projects for applicable grants by participating in public outreach meetings, researching available data, and soliciting input from regulatory agencies.
