Sapphos Environmental, Inc. is providing support to the County of Los Angeles in the master planning of the proposed redevelopment of the 129-acre Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center (RLANRC) campus. The master planning and redevelopment area includes the Rancho Los Amigos Historic District located on the south campus.

The master planning process is based on the characterization and evaluation of the physical, natural, and cultural environment inherent to the property; assessment of the social and demographic characteristics of the surrounding community and market; and documentation of the County’s programming and facility needs. Key components of the master planning effort include the characterization of the 76 contributing historic structures and buildings and evaluation of the feasibility of rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of these resources as components of the plan; consolidation of the medical function of the RLANRC into facilities that comply with the Office of State Health Planning and Development on to the north campus, providing sustainable design facilities to absorb up to 4,000 County employees on the south campus; and the provisions of additional cultural, institutional, retail, and recreational amenities to serve the campus and surrounding community. Sapphos Environmental, Inc. is also preparing Environmental Impact Reports for the County Data Center and the North and South Campus Specific Use Plan.
